Da Vinci Compote
I've recently discovered the pleasures of historical novels (more or less completely made-up stories based on characters having existed), the last one to date about Leonard da Vinci's mother. I won't give away the plot, but in the book Lorenzo de Medici was a fan of her red grape and pitted black olive compote, which she served with fresh goat cheese, bread, and a pitcher of wine while discussing Plato.
Cook red grapes, pitted (rinsed) Kalamata olives, thyme, balsamic vinegar and oil in 350 F for about an hour.
